DISCUSS THE IMPORTANCE OF STRAIGHT ALLIES
WASHINGTON, D.C.-- The Rev. Meg A. Riley and Don Davis, co-chairs of And Justice for All's (AJA) advisory board, today released the following op-eds. Both pieces are personal observations that examine AJA's belief that heterosexual involvement and mobilization in the fight for bisexual, gay, lesbian and transgendered civil rights is crucial as well as achievable.

Rev. Riley is a community-based Unitarian Universalist minister who currently serves as director of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) Washington Office for Social Justice. She is also Minister Associated at All Soul's Church in Washington, D.C. From 1990 - 1995, Riley directed the UUA's office of Lesbian, Bisexual and Gay Concerns. Prior to that, she directed the UUA's continental program for youth. Riley is a graduate of the United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities and served three Minnesota congregations as a religious educator before beginning work at UUA headquarters in 1989.
Davis' experience lies almost exclusively in small communities. Currently, Davis serves on the boards of director of OUR OWN Community Press (the Virginia statewide lesbigay newspaper), the Williamsburg AIDS Network, and the Peninsula AIDS Foundation. In January, 1995, Davis was appointed to the board of directors of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force. For the past seven years, he has served as the chief of comprehensive planning for James City County, Virginia.
And Justice for All (AJA), is a grassroots membership organization dedicated to achieving equality for everyone without regard to sexual orientation and to engaging heterosexuals in the bisexual, gay, lesbian and transgender rights (b/g/l/t) movement. Annual membership in AJA is $20 ($5 for students and those with a limited income).
